Website

We are very excited about our new website.  There are pages for each class where you will be able to find out their latest news.  There is also information about school meals, uniform, clubs and newsletters.  It is in the early stages of development and there may be a few hiccups – but I hope you will enjoy finding out more about what your children are doing.  Please let the school know if you have any comments.  If you have trouble locating it, try pressing Control and F5.

The development would not have been possible without Joel Ide and his company.  We are very grateful to him for giving his time and expertise.

Goodbyes

Our Year 6 pupils have come to the end of their time with us and we wish them every success at secondary school.  They have worked very hard and it has been a pleasure to have them at the school.  I look forward to hearing of their achievements in the future.

Mrs Bakeris leaving after covering the Y3 maternity leave this term.   She slotted back into the school so easily that it seemed as though she had never been away.  I am very grateful to her for all she has done for Y3 this term.

Mrs Witherick is leaving her post of midday supervisor after over 3 years at the school.  I am grateful to her for all she has done to help keep the children safe and happy at lunchtimes – and wish her well in her future career.

Finally, after over 17 years, it is my time to say goodbye.  I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work here.  I had taught in a range of primary and secondary schools before coming here, but it didn’t take me long to sense there was something very special about Ickleford School.  I felt at the time – and still feel – that the children here have huge potential.  It has been a real pleasure to see their talents and abilities develop.

That has been possible because of the high professional standards of the teaching and non-teaching staff – always expecting the best of the children and helping to build their confidence.  It has been a pleasure, (and often great fun!) to work with them.

The secret of success in any school is when school and parents work together.  This has been a joy at Ickleford.  The support of parents for school events and the PTA greatly enriches the school and allows us to offer a wide range of facilities for the children.  Thank you so much for all the help and encouragement you have given to us and the children.

I wish Mrs Sue Dury every success in taking over the leadership of the school and I hope she will be as happy here as I have been.

I hope you all have a very enjoyable summer break.  Next term starts on Monday 5 September.
