A very big "thank you" to all the Year 6 parents who helped to make our cake sale so sucessful. We raised £128, thanks to your baking efforts!
A special thank you also goes to Anna's mum, who came into school to help ice and sell the cakes and biscuits.

Snow!
Posted By Lucy, Cydney and Courtney

Today is Monday and it’s been snowing a lot. When we arrived at school, the playground was covered in snow. Everyone was making snowmen. At playtime, we all went onto the field and Mrs Lovett let us play for an extra long time. We were all very grateful!
At lunchtime, the three of us built a lovely snow sofa. It took all lunch time but it was worth it in the end. Mrs Beaufoy took pictures of us all on the sofa. Some of Year 6 made a brilliant snow slide- it was really slippery! Other classes made different snow sculptures; Year 5 tried to make an igloo on the field and Year 3, Year1 and Year 6 tried to make a camel together! It isn’t finished but it still looks great. Mila made a snow cat and an ice rink- well done Mila.
Cakes and parachutes
Posted By Thea and Hannah C

This Thursday Year 6 had a cake sale. We made loads of biscuits and cakes at school and all our parents were very supportive and made lots of cakes at home. Every class came to Year 6 with some money to spend. It was 30p for one cake or biscuit and £1 for a plate. We raised £128 to give to the P.T.A and they are going to spend it on new play equipment and other things for the school. The cake sale was very successful and we loved the cakes!
THANK YOU TO ALL THE YEAR 6 PARENTS.
For our homework we had to make parachutes to bring to school on Monday. It was rather easy but a lot to do. We had to make sure we dropped it from the same height so it was a fair test. After everyone had had a go we came back to the classroom to write about what we found out. Courtney won the parachute competion. It was all great fun but tiring; we all enjoyed it- and we learned a lot of science about forces as well.
First week of term
Posted By Catherine and Alice

We’ve been at school for only three days but we have done so much work already. Our class already has new jobs and new responsibilities.
In these three days we have already done maths, science, punctuation activities, design and technology and PE.
This afternoon we saw a play by Y13 students from the Priory School, and then we did a workshop with them. The play they performed was “The Tempest” by William Shakespeare.
The Last Week of Term
Posted By Anna and Courtney

This week has been a very busy one. Reception, Year One and Year Two have been working very hard on their Christmas nativity; they performed to the pupils on Tuesday and to their families on Wednesday. Emily and Patrick from Year Two sang a wonderful duet of Away in a Manger and our previous head teacher, Mrs Salmon, came back to play the piano for the songs.
In Year Six we have been working hard on sewing calendars for 2012 as Christmas presents for their families; they are looking wonderful so far.
Year Six also made Christmas wreaths for the Carol Service at st Katharine’s Church on Monday. Children read pieces of work they had written in class. Year Three read the story of Bethlehem, Year Four told the story of the shepherds, Year Five told the story of the three wise men bringing gifts for Jesus and Year 6 also read their recipes for a Happy Christmas.
Happy Christmas Everyone!
Lacrosse
Posted By Maya and Sam Reader

This week we have experienced the sport lacrosse on Tuesday morning. It was very good fun but took a lot of hard work. The teacher who taught us was called Trey. He said he had been playing the sport for over 10 years and he was superb at it. We learnt how to pass and catch. They also taught us the three S’s. The first S is step, the second S is squat and the last S is scoop. The man who taught us was brilliant and very talented and lots of us want to carry on playing until we are as good as him. If we are lucky, we will be having lacrosse lessons in the spring term.

Maths Roadshow
Posted By Mrs Sansom

Last Tuesday, Year 6 visited the Priory School to take part in the "Maths of Sport" challenge, organised by the Cambridge University Millennium Maths project. The children had a great time and everyone was very impressed by their mathematical brains!
Our Amazing Performance
Posted By Daniel and Emma

Over the past few weeks, Year 6 have been rehearsing very hard for our school Christmas Play. It's been exhausting learning our lines, songs and each and every scene. We have already performed twice infront of an audience of about two hundred.
We were all very nervous infront of everyone, but the teachers gave us support and confidence. We had brilliant audiences that laughed alot.
The costumes and props are wonderful; they were organised from scratch by our teaching assistant, Mrs Beaufoy. Mrs Sansom painted the backdrop and put Christmas lights underneath it. Mrs Wright taught us the songs. Mrs Lovett wrote the script and directed and taught us the dance moves. Also we would like to say a big "Thank You" to Mr Males for doing the lighting and lending Mrs Sansom his sound deck.
All in all, we had a wonderful time doing our last School Play at Ickleford School. We hope that everyone enjoyed it as much as we did!
